Isabelle Johnson, traveled widely
Isabelle “Tommy” Johnson, 83, of Bridgeville passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at the home of her son in Georgetown.
She was born in Laurel, the daughter of the late Alton C. and Mildred G. (Parsons) Elliott.
She was a teller at Mellon Bank in Rehoboth and later worked at Hillside Flower Shop in Milton.
She attended Chaplins Chapel in Bridgeville. She was a member of the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Georgetown V.F.W., Ellendale V.F.W. and a member of the 445th AAA Veterans Association, where she served as secretary and sent out the newsletter.
She had traveled to 11 different countries and had traced Jim and Oliver’s steps during World War II from Omaha Beach to the Hurtgen Forest.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Johnson Jr. and her friend, Oliver Peterson.
She is survived by her three children, James I. Johnson (Sandy) of Felton, David Alton Johnson (Patti Jo) of Georgetown, and Lisa Ford of Greenwood; 10 grandchildren, Cari Miller (Brian), Casey Hastings (Trey), Tara Rhodes (Ethan), Jennifer Hazzard (John), Chelsea Johnson, Christopher Mazujian (Alessia), Ashley Kaczorowski (David), Brooke Mazujian, Benjamin Smetana (Jenea) and Jon Smetana (Samantha); and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, P.O. Box 727, Bridgeville, DE 19933 in Tommy’s name.
