Janet Mary Colwell Anderson, retired nurse

Janet Mary Colwell Anderson, 75, of Millsboro passed away at her home with her loving husband and youngest daughter present Tuesday, April 7, 2020, after a long battle with failing health.

Born Sept. 20, 1944, in Western Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of William and Allene Colwell.  On May 8, 1965, she married William “Bill” Anderson, who survives.

Janet graduated in 1962 from Redbank Valley High School in New Bethlehem, Pa.  She then attended Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio, and later graduated from the Washington Hospital Center School of Nursing, Washington, D.C.  She spent her career as a Registered Nurse at the Washington Hospital Center.  She also worked for a short time as the school nurse at Riverdale Baptist School, Upper Marlboro, Md.  Janet was a delight and had a wonderful sense of humor, loved everyone she met, loved family, and enjoyed photography.

Surviving along with her husband are two daughters, Michele C. Tyson with husband Thomas “Tom” Tyson of Buda, Texas, and Robyn L. Anderson of Millsboro; three grandsons: Michael with wife Molly, Tyler with friend Jamie, and Trent; a great-grandson Slate with Michael and Molly; and two brothers, William Colwell and Ed George, both living in Pennsylvania. Her parents and her sister Linda are deceased.  There are a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.

Due to the social distancing related to the coronavirus pandemic, there will be no public visitation or service now.  A memorial service will be held on a date, place and time to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE  19963.
