Jawsfest at Hudson Fields to benefit Beebe Aug. 20

July 6, 2020

Revival House will take a bite out of summer boredom with the launch of Jawsfest to benefit Beebe Healthcare at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 20, at Hudson Fields.

The event will feature music, food and fun as well as a very famous shark.

Jawsfest will welcome families with various food trucks, a Jaws-themed beer release from Revelation Brewing, live music, local vendors and a feature screening of director Steven Spielberg’s milestone summer film “Jaws” at dusk. The event is free and open to the public, but donations are suggested, with proceeds going to Beebe Healthcare, whose frontline workers have worked tirelessly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Celebrating its 45th year, “Jaws” has become the model for the summer smash, becoming the first film ever to earn $100 million in its initial theatrical release. The term “blockbuster” was coined as crowds would line up around city blocks in order to get tickets to the film.

“It’s certainly my favorite film,” said Rob Waters, one of the founders of Revival House. “And seeing it in as big a format as possible is the best way to experience it.”

Revival House is working with Beebe and Hudson Fields in order to adhere to all state-mandated social distancing measures and precautions, and participants will be required to keep the proper six-foot distance from others when on the field to view the film. All attending will be required to wear protective face coverings while on the premises.

“We are doing this as a fundraiser for those who continue to put themselves on the line during this pandemic, so we want to adhere to all the requirements to help flatten the curve, but let everyone still have a fun time with their families,” said Rob Rector of Revival House.

Prior to the film, Jawsfest will provide a number of food trucks for visitors, adult beverages and kids’ activities. Live music will also be provided prior to the film. When the sun sets, the main feature will begin, broadcast on a 52-foot screen, and families can view from their own blankets, beach towels or low-back beach chairs...all far from the ocean’s edge.
