Jeannette Susan “Susie” Baker, 70, of Camden, passed away Monday, Oct. 2, 2023. Susie was born Jan. 20, 1953, in Chester, Pa.
Susie worked at Woolworths, Movie King and Discover Card. She loved listening to Motown, Elvis, and Michael Bolton, and also loved Rusty Wallace, a NASCAR driver. She enjoyed crafts, scrapbooking, crocheting and sewing. She made all of our clothes growing up. She made the best lemon meringue pies and snickerdoodle cookies. She also had a green thumb, with her beautiful rose bushes and butterfly bushes. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Roland Shepherd and Jeannette Wilson; her stepmother, Beverly Shepherd; her granddaughter, Aliya Rose Ridgeway; Glen Kendzierski, who was like a son to her; and her sister, Jayne Prewitt.
Susie is survived by her husband of 46 years, David Baker; children, Curtis Kingston (DeeDee) of Kansas City, Matthew Baker of Camden, and Marietta Ridgeway (Forrest) of Camden; brother, Roland Shepherd of Pennsylvania; sisters, Linda Shepherd of Greenwood and Jaime Derr of Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Alyssa Grainger (Mark) of Arizona, and Ashlyn Ridgeway of Camden; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 8, at Berry Short Funeral Home, Felton.
