JGM Painting adds U.S. flag mural to its building
If you happen to be visiting the new Redner’s Fresh Market on Route 9 or driving through Nassau Valley Vineyards, you may have noticed the large American flag adorning the side of a building. This beautiful and eye-catching mural is the work of JGM & Associates Custom Painting, in an effort to exhibit their talents and provide a decorative sight for the community.
JGM & Associates turned the empty side of their building into a white background the week before Christmas. Once the weather was again optimal, painters resumed work to create the stars and stripes emblem.
“The idea was that we just had a blank canvas on that side of the building, so it was time for it to be painted,” said JGM & Associates President Johnny Mancuso. “We’ve been in business since 1988 and wanted to shine up the building, and do something off the cuff that would give back to the community and let them see our work. It also shows off something patriotic, essentially. We’re proud to be a small business in the United States of America. We’re proud to be in the community and give back to the area in that regard.”
JGM & Associates has completed similar projects in the past, such as the iconic ice cream cones on the silo at Hopkins Farm Creamery. Now, it was time for the painters to display their expertise on their own property.
“We’re all about taking on challenges, especially when it comes to maintaining the look of the community,” Mancuso said. “We will help with any kind of structure that needs to be maintained or repainted because we love to be a part of cornerstones in the community … It was a great idea, the follow-through was there, and everybody was on board. The painters that actually put it up there did it all freehand, and they were really excited about it. It was a pretty neat operation for the whole group to be a part of. It shows off our ability. That was the idea as well. We try to make it aesthetically correct and cosmetically pleasing, obviously. There’s a true formula on how the flag is, so to do that took a little bit of planning.”
JGM & Associates specializes in interior painting, exterior painting, cabinet refinishing, staining and sealing, power washing and drywall repair, but its leaders and employees cherish opportunities that allow them to exercise their creative flair.
“We would love to do one of the historic lighthouses in Lewes, like the model on Kings Highway,” said Rob Dill, a spokesman for JGM & Associates. “Performing work on an actual lighthouse in the community would be particularly special.”
