Joan H. Economos, successful businesswoman
Joan H. Economos, 91, of Milton, passed away peacefully with our Lord on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025. Born in Chester, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Helen and Harry Smith.
Joan was married to Peter A. Economos, and together they celebrated 65 years of marriage. For more than 40 years, they owned and operated several businesses in the Lewes and Rehoboth Beach areas. She was an avid collector and dealer of antiques, and proudly owned and ran shops in the Lewes area for many years. Joan was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; her son, Leon; her grandson, Peter; her brothers, Charles Smith and Thomas Smith; and her sister, Betty Kozur. She is survived by her sister, Carol Williams; her sons, Peter, Duane (Dorinda) and Gregory (JoAnn); her daughters, Kimberly Kirker (Robert) and Stacia Wilson (Philip); 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 7, at Saint Andrew the Apostle Orthodox Church, 33384 Mackenzie Way, Lewes, where friends and family may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Conley's Chapel Cemetery, 22150 Robinsonville Road, Lewes.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Joan’s memory to Saint Andrew the Apostle Orthodox Church, 33384 Mackenzie Way, Lewes, DE 19958.
