Joanne Marie Decker, avid golfer
Joanne Marie Decker, 73, of Ellendale, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.
Joanne was born June 19, 1948, in Winsted, Conn., to the late Harvey and Florentine (Bennett) Nott June.
In her younger years, Joanne was a Girl Scout leader in Warren, Conn. She received her bachelor’s in psychology with high honors. She was a descendant of William White, who traveled to America on the Mayflower. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. After moving to Delaware from Warren, she joined Ellendale United Methodist Church. She was an avid golfer, and she loved to read with a particular interest in history.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Ivan “Everett” Nott.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, William “Bill” J. Decker; three children, June Covill, Mark Duhan, and Laurina Decker; three stepdaughters, Mayanne Pietzga, Debbie Bushnell, and Linda Peck; and three siblings, Harvey Nott, Gwen Alderman, and Noreen Bebault.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 18, at Ellendale United Methodist Church, 603 Main St., Ellendale. Interment is private.
Arrangements are in the care of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford.
