Joseph Peter Lobb, had fulfilling career

Joseph Peter Lobb, 93, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Brandywine Assisted Living at Seaside Pointe, Rehoboth. He previously resided in Ocean View and Trooper, Pa.

Joe Lobb was born May 22, 1928, in Norristown, Pa., the son of the late Eugene and Mary Lobb, née Grady.  He was a 1946 graduate of St. Patrick High School in Norristown, Pa.  He later received his associate's degree in accounting from Villanova University, Villanova Pa.

Joe celebrated two retirements in his long, fulfilling career.  First, as an accountant with Ford Motor Company in Ann Arbor, Mich., where he had worked for nearly 27 years.  Second, as the town manager for Ocean View, where he worked for 17 years.

Joe embodied devotion and integrity and maintained strong, lifelong friendships with those fortunate enough to have known him.  Furthermore, music and singing were a significant part of his life, and he thoroughly enjoyed his affiliation with the barbershop group, The Nautical Sounds.

Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edda M. Lobb, née Ross; his sisters, Marie Otwell and Virginia “Bonnie” Boland; his brothers, Eugene “Bud”, Jack, Jerry, and Donny; his daughter-in-law, Virginia “Ginny” Lobb; and grandson, Mark E. McFarland Jr.

He is survived by his four children, Eileen M. Ammon of Royersford, Pa., Michael E. Lobb (Mark E. McFarland) of Snow Hill, Md., J. Patrick Lobb of Angola, Ind., and Susan O’Malley (Joseph T. Jr) of Lewes; eight grandchildren, Thomas M. Ammon, Ryann K. Merolla, Corrine E. Esken, Kelly E. Peckinpaugh, Cailyn P. Lobb, Matthew E. McFarland, Joseph T. O’Malley III, Patrick J. O’Malley; and 12 great-grandchildren.  Joe is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Sue Cisick of Limerick, Pa., Bea Lobb of Norristown, Dee Weikert of Schwenksville, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, April 1, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial.  Interment will be held at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro. 

In lieu of flowers, the family proposes memorial contributions in his name to the Vitas Healthcare Hospice, 100 Commerce Dr., Ste. 302, Newark, DE  19713.
