JuneRose Futcher photograph selected for juried show

Maritime exhibit to run through Oct. 13 in Camden, NJ
September 27, 2019

A juried panel selected a photograph by Lewes native JuneRose Futcher to include in A New Berth, a group exhibition in partnership with the Camden Shipyard and Maritime Museum in Camden, N.J.

Considering her own sailing lifestyle in a family of mariners, Futcher said the decision to enter was an easy one. Her works of seascapes and sailing art have merited high praise since her childhood in Delaware. At the age of 16, Futcher won her first award from the Rehoboth Art League.

The photographs she submitted for consideration were fitting representations of the Pilots Association for the Bay & River Delaware.

“The Star Sifnos,” Futcher’s signature photograph selected for the exhibition, is especially meaningful. Her brother Capt. Charles Futcher had just boarded for anchorage when she took this photograph from a launch vessel many years ago.

Futcher said she has been hard at work for many years as a studied, award-winning photographer where her understanding of maritime architecture and environment is natural and original. She said she is flattered that her work has been selected. Her achievements and support received continue to inspire her as a professional in a subject that is deeply personal to Futcher and her family.

The exhibit will be on display through Sunday, Oct. 13. For more information, go to www.camdenfireworks.org.
