Justice Randy J. Holland, who recently retired from the Delaware Supreme Court after the longest tenure of any justice in the state's history, will be the featured speaker at the annual meeting of The Friends of the John Dickinson Mansion at 5 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, at the John Dickinson Plantation. A wine and cheese reception and tours of the Dickinson Mansion will begin at 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Holland, a Milford native, is a recognized authority on the Delaware Constitution and has also written extensively on Delaware history. His book, "Middle Temple Lawyers and The American Revolution," which he co-authored with British judge Eric Stockdale, contains a chapter on young John Dickinson's law studies in London.

At the conclusion of the talk, attendees are invited to join the Friends for dinner at Sambo's Tavern in Leipsic. The cost of the dinner is $50 per person, which includes beverages and gratuity. To make reservations for the dinner by Thursday, June 1, mail check to Friends of the John Dickinson Mansion, PO Box 1110, Dover, DE 19903, or call 302-698-0101.

The Dickinson plantation, which is operated as a museum by the Delaware Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs, is located at 340 Kitts Hummock Road in Dover. It features the patriot's brick mansion, reconstructed farm buildings and a log dwelling, surrounded by rich agricultural lands stretching down to the banks of the St. Jones River.
