Kammerer named among Most Influential Restaurant CEOs in nation
Scott Kammerer, president of Rehoboth Beach-based SoDel Concepts, was recently named to the Nation’s Restaurant News 2020 list of the most influential leaders in the restaurant industry.
There are more than 660,000 restaurants in the United States. Only 95 CEOs were selected for the list.
Kammerer is in impressive company. Celebrity restaurateurs on the list include Jon Taffer, best known for the TV show “Bar Rescue”; Cameron Mitchell, CEO of Cameron Mitchell Restaurants; and serial restaurateur Sam Fox of Fox Restaurant Concepts. Fox, a nine-time James Beard Award nominee, sold his restaurant chain to Cheesecake Factory in a deal valued at more than $350 million.
“I am humbled to be recognized on the same list as so many legendary restaurateurs in the U.S.,” said Kammerer, whose company has 12 restaurants in coastal Sussex County. “I admire all of them, and many have been an inspiration. They are not only talented and creative businesspeople, but many are also industry advocates and dedicated philanthropists.”
Kammerer started his career in the Delaware hospitality industry in 1992 as a dishwasher in Rehoboth Beach. By 1996, he was the general manager of a popular seafood restaurant. He is now one of the most successful restaurant developers in Delaware history.
A past recipient of the Delaware Restaurant Association’s Cornerstone Award and the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce’s Marvin S. Gilman Superstars in Business Award, Kammerer is currently chairman of the Delaware Restaurant Association.
