Members of the Milton Historical Society came together June 27 to say goodbye to Executive Director Dr. Kim Fabbri.

After two years as director, Fabbri has taken a teaching job in Wilmington. A native of Rockland County, N.Y., Fabbri was living in Lewes when she found a listing for the job. She said the chance to mix community engagement with her love of history - she holds a history degree from Lehigh University was too good to pass up.

Recalling her initial interview, she said, “It was the most fun interview I could possibly have had because it wasn’t a group of people staring at me, but a conversation about visions and opportunities.”

Fabbri said while the job was exciting, her favorite aspects were educational programs with children, working with the board of directors and working with other organizations, such as the Milton Garden Club, Milton Theatre and town council.

Fabbri will be replaced by Lee Revis-Plank, a member of the society’s board of trustees, as interim director. Revis-Plank will officially take over Sunday, July 1.

Fabbri’s former colleagues sang her praises as she steps away from the lead role.

Town Councilman Kevin Kelly, former society executive director, said Fabbri reimagined what the society could be, came up with new programs and exhibits, and expanded the society’s role in town events.

“Under her leadership, there was always something to do,” he said.

Historical Society President Marie Mayor addressed Fabbri, saying, “I’m so grateful that you were here and shared your insight and your intelligence, your creativity. You’ve lived far beyond what our expectations were.”
