Landscape architecture magazine reviews Milton author’s book
A book written last year by Jeff Seemans, a retired registered landscape architect from Milton, is the subject of a prominent and highly complimentary review in the current July issue of Landscape Architect & Specifier News, a respected national magazine for the profession.
Aaron Schmok, magazine editor, interviewed Seemans by phone from his office in California about the book, "How to Use Superior Site Planning Techniques to Create More Beautiful Communities." Schmok said the magazine has 30,000 subscribers.
In the review, Schmok said, “[It} is a compelling and practical guide that distills decades of landscape architecture and site planning experience into a concise and accessible format." Seemans' own graphic illustrations and photographs of beautiful local communities like Independence, an active adult community south of Harbeson, Bay Crossing just south of Lewes, and Paynter's Mill just east of Milton, are featured in the review.
Seemans said the book's inspiration was drawn from Sussex County's rapid overdevelopment using antiquated subdivision and zoning codes. Concluding the review, Schmock said, “[Seemans] displayed a deep respect for the environment and [offered] a roadmap for creating communities that are not only beautiful but also sustainable and livable."
