Lefty's Alley and Eats to offer custom-crafted laser tag experience

Contracts nationally acclaimed design team
October 29, 2016

When it comes to laser tag on Delmarva, Lefty’s Alley and Eats is it. The Lefty’s management team has contracted Studio41b Immersive Attractions of Lake Wales, Fla., to create a custom-designed storyline and sensory experience for their laser tag guests.

Given the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean off the coastline, Studio41b created a unique, Rehoboth Beach-centered storyline and arena with interactive elements to transport guests to a virtual underwater world within Lefty’s Alley and Eats.

“There’s truly nowhere else in the world with this laser tag theme,” says DJ Hill, principal of Lefty’s Alley and Eats. “In keeping with our entire vision for Lefty’s Alley and Eats, we wanted the laser tag component to deliver the wow factor. When we talked with the creative team at Studio41b, we knew they would deliver – and they have. It’s an amazing concept, and one you can really feel immersed in, especially since it is specific to Rehoboth Beach.”

For the uninitiated, laser tag is (as it sounds) played like a familiar game of tag, but with the excitement of laser guns and the sensation of being part of a video game. Special effects add to the experience, as well as a storyline that gives players a context for who or what they are tagging.

“To make laser tag unique to Lefty’s, we talked with DJ Hill and Chad Moore to get a sense of the Delaware beach setting, then we crafted a story to immerse players in the game,” says Doug Wilkerson, founder and creative visionary at Studio41b. “Going into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean was a natural inspiration. We created a scene of divers finding a hidden cavern at the bottom of the ocean, a fantastic mystical world with exciting creatures, and like most stories, a villain and mission.”

At Lefty’s, guests start their underwater adventures in a simulated submarine which holds the briefing and vesting rooms. Vests have targets for getting tagged. Players can play individually or as teams, and each player tries to tag as many people with the laser as possible to get points. In team play, each team has a base and players try to tag opposite team players to win that team’s base. Scores are tallied and put up on a screen at the end of the game.

In addition to spectacular visual and sound effects, one of the most exciting elements of Lefty’s laser tag is that Studio41b incorporated an infinite number of outcomes, based on various triggers players tag throughout the game. It won’t be the same game twice.

Laser tag will open at Lefty’s Alley & Eats in late 2016, along with the other offerings of food and beverages, bowling and arcade on Route One behind the Lewes Wawa.

Lefty’s Alley and Eats’ restaurant, which will have a 100-seat capacity, will offer an assortment of creative appetizers, gourmet brick oven pizzas and sandwiches, and a custom-developed menu for both restaurant and lane-side dining. The locally based founders and management team of Lefty’s Alley & Eats are dedicated to cultivating a unique entertainment option for all. Principal owners Hill and Moore both live, work, and raise families in Rehoboth Beach as second-generation residents and business owners. The vision for Lefty’s Alley & Eats is to exceed guests’ expectations and deliver a fun, unique place for locals and visitors to relax. Lefty’s will provide an accommodating and fun local place for family celebrations, birthday parties, and corporate meetings.
