Lewes in Bloom live greens wreath orders due Nov. 8
Lewes in Bloom is preparing for its holiday wreath sale, one of its biggest fundraisers of the year. Orders will be taken through Friday, Nov. 8.
Handmade in North Carolina using mixed greens, wreaths are available in 24-inch and 32-inch sizes. To order, go to lewesinbloom.org. Lewes in Bloom volunteers deliver the wreaths directly to businesses to residences.
Terry Yates, wreath committee chair, said the wreath are based with fraser fir, and interspersed with cedar and noble pine. Patti Walters directs a group of LIB members to make red, weather-resistant velvet bows with gold trim for each wreath. Six members volunteer for many hours to fashion every single bow. It takes about 15 minutes to complete one bow.
Lewes in Bloom members are grateful for the support they receive from the community. With more than 460 members, many of whom work in one or more of the gardens and other displays throughout the year, the organization has helped the City of Lewes win both national and international honors. All proceeds from the sale benefit the purchase of flowers planted and tended by LIB volunteers in 21 public gardens and planter locations around the city.
