Lewes book club members celebrate 20 years

August 20, 2024

Way back in August 2004, several of the Lewes Public Library employees started a book club that meets the first Monday of every month.

Now, 20 years later, the club is still going strong, and current members gathered Aug. 4 for an anniversary dinner. With four original members still in attendance, membership is fluid, hovering between seven and nine readers at any given time. Genres include historical fiction, classics, natural history and biography.

A selection of members’ favorite reads includes: “Just Mercy,” All the Light You Cannot See,” “Kite Runner,” “Nightingale,” “Island of Sea Women,” “The Women,” “Pachinko,” “Nickel and Dimed,” “Olive Kitteridge,” “Devil in the White City,” “Gentleman in Moscow,” “Wild Trees” and “Boys in the Boat.”
