Lewes BPW donates $15K to fire department

The Lewes Board of Public Works recently donated $15,000 to the Lewes Fire Department to help pay for EMS services. 

Craig Stephens, president of Lewes Fire Department, said the donation is greatly appreciated because EMS personnel are working extra hard during the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds will be used to pay for overtime and hazard pay, he said. 

The Lewes Board of Public Works makes an annual donation to the fire department, but this year BPW Vice President A. Thomas Owen said extraordinary circumstances warrant an additional donation to help first responders through a difficult time.
