Lewes couple to celebrate 70th anniversary Sept. 18
Lewes residents Richard C. McCoy and Lois J. (Kalmbacher) McCoy were married Sept. 18,1954, at the Swedenborgian Church (now The Church of the Holy City) on Pennsylvania Avenue and N. Broom Street in Wilmington.
Richard was born in Shamokin, Pa., to the late Willis and Emma McCoy, and Lois was born in Wilmington to the late Arthur and Helen Kalmbacher. Richard graduated from Shamokin High School and The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He worked as a sales manager for Frank Robino Associates builder/developer in Delaware for 35 years. Lois graduated from Wilmington High School and the Franklin School of Science & Arts in Philadelphia. She worked part time as a medical technologist for Wilmington and Christiana hospitals.
In 1992, Richard and Lois retired and moved to Pawleys Island, S.C. There they spent 28 blissful years playing golf and enjoying their retirement. In 2020, they moved back to Delaware to be close to their daughter.
Richard and Lois have three children, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. They credit their long marriage to their love and faith in Jesus Christ.
