Lewes Meineke sets free oil changes for veterans event Nov. 11
In celebration of Veterans Day, the Lewes Meineke Car Care Center will offer free oil changes to America's brave service men and women with extended hours from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 11. Free Oil Changes for Veterans is an annual Meineke tradition. Last year for Veterans Day, Meineke centers across the county collectively executed more than 20,000 oil changes. The Lewes Meineke provided over 212 themselves. They also served 350 meals to veterans and their families.
This year owner Dave Repass is hoping to double those numbers, and he has asked some customers, family, friends and local business partners to lend a hand to make the event more than just about oil changes and Lewes Meineke. He is turning Free Oil Changes for Veterans into a community event where many others can support and honor those men and women who have served.
Last year, veterans received great service and a free oil change with a chicken dinner provided by the local VFW. Repass's good friend Jeff Hamer, owner of Fins and Big Oyster Brew, also came last year and served some amazing food for veterans. Hamer and Fins will be back this year along with some more from local favorite food hangouts including Surf Bagel, Taco Bell, Rosenfelds Jewish Deli Food Truck and the Surfing Crab.
Repass also noted the need to give the veterans something more to do while they wait. Joining Lewes Meineke in honoring veterans this year will be Delaware USO, Gun Shooter Enterprises, Rise Fitness, Wertz and Co., Inland Motorsports, Wawa, Decalgirl, First State Crane, L and W Insurance, Sposato Irrigation, WGMD, Delaware Red Cross, Ocean View VFW, 1776 Steakhouse, Ellendale VFW, The Lighthouse, Delaware Armory and Cape Henlopen JROTC, Quest Adventures and The Lighthouse.
Local officials stopping by will include Sen. Ernie Lopez, Speaker of the House Pete Schwartzkopf, Rep. Steve Smyk, Sen. Brian Pettyjohn and other local leaders.
"Veterans Day is the ideal time to display our genuine gratitude for the sacrifices made every day by the brave men and women in our military," said Danny Rivera, president of Meineke Car Care Centers. "At Meineke, we know an oil change is a basic service vehicles need to ensure they continue to properly function. By offering free oil changes to the military community, we're doing our small part to ensure they have their most basic car care need taken care of."
Free oil changes include up to five quarts of standard motor oil, and a standard oil filter. If a vehicle requires upgraded oil, a discount equal to the basic oil change service will be provided. Lewes Meineke will only be providing Free Oil Changes For Veterans Nov. 11. They apologize to their regular customers for any inconvenience. For more information, go to www.Meineke.com.
