The Lewes Minor League All-Stars secured a 22-0 mercy-rule victory over Nanticoke July 14 to win the District 3 title.
Lewes scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning and added 12 in the second to take the three-inning win.
Lewes was led by Briggs Gannon, who went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and four runs scored. Ben Pease, Finn Gannon, Lucca Fazio, Grant Herschelman, Mason Thompson and Nolan Jones each garnered an RBI.
Briggs Gannon went the distance on the mound, giving up just one hit while striking out three Nanticoke batters.
“I’m proud of our team for the way they have improved every game throughout this tournament against strong competition,” said Lewes manager Blake Herschelman. “They have a great work ethic during practice, and I think that has translated well into the games. Many of them have gone 8-0 in the district the last two years with two championships. The parents and community have been very supportive and behind us all the way. We look forward to the challenge of the upcoming state tournament.”
Lewes will host the state tournament Tuesday to Saturday, July 26 to 30.
