The project to lift and move the historic Lewes railroad swing bridge is back on track after work was stopped Dec. 1 because the weight of the structure was much more than estimated.
Delaware Department of Transportation contractor R.E. Pierson is doing site work in preparation for a 900-ton crane to be transported Monday, Feb. 14, in sections to the site on the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal along Gills Neck Road, Lewes.
Sections of Gills Neck Road will be closed Feb. 14. DelDOT officials will release a timetable for the crane to lift the bridge onto a truck for transportation to a display area at the end of American Legion Road.
