Lewes welcomes 2022 with anchor drop

A little rain didn’t spoil the Overfalls Foundation’s New Year’s Eve tradition of dropping an anchor from the mast of the Lightship Overfalls.
It looked like the poor weather might keep people away, but as midnight approached, Canalfront Park filled with locals and visitors.
After the anchor reached the deck and 2022 had arrived, most joined together in singing "Auld Lang Syne” before heading off filled with a sense of hope entering a new year.
The anchor hangs atop the Lightship Overfalls mast.
The anchor is lit up and ready to go.
