Life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. program set in Dover April 7

The Delaware Public Archives in Dover will present a program titled The Life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in remembrance of the 50th anniversary of his assassination in 1968. Presented by the Rev. Dr. John Moore Sr., this program will focus on King’s life from his youth in Georgia to his years as the leader of the civil rights movement and his tragic assassination in Memphis, Tenn.

Moore will also re-enact three of King’s most famous speeches: “We Shall Overcome,” “I Have a Dream” and his final address, “The Mountain Top,” presented the night before his assassination.

A native of Philadelphia, Moore retired from the United States Air Force in 2005 after 20 years of honorable service to his nation. He currently serves as vice president of resource development and strategic partnerships for the United Way of Delaware. He is also executive director for the Delaware Youth Leadership Academy. From January 2000 to December 2017, Moore served as youth pastor for Calvary Baptist Church in Dover. Moore is president and CEO of Total Increase Ministries.
