Lillian Elizabeth Armold, former archery champion
Lillian Elizabeth Armold, 95, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at home Friday, Aug. 13, 2021.
Lillian was born in Dallastown, Pa., to the late John and Dora (Leber) Taylor. She graduated from Dallastown Area High School in 1943, worked for Rider Well Drilling in Dallastown and in the controllers office for York Corporation as well as selling Sarah Coventry jewelry. She was the state archery champion in 1954. In her long life she has only lived in four homes, 130 and 124 E. Main St. in Dallastown, Blossom Hill in Dallastown, and finally, her home in Georgetown.
Lillian enjoyed reading, talking on the telephone, organizing bus trips for her church friends, the Pacesetters, and going to Branson, Mo., and the shows. She was also a fan of ladies luncheons, card parties with friends and couples, as well as going out to eat. Lillian also had a passion for her silk flower arrangements, Christmas, and decorating the home for the seasons. After moving to Georgetown in the Villages of Cinderberry, she learned to play Pinochle, Bridge, and Mahjong, as well as Words with Friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her nine siblings.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Clyde M. Armold; her daughter Tina Sonzogni and her husband Bob; one stepgrandchild, Robert (Milcah); and three great-grandchildren to whom she was known as ‘GG’ as well as various nieces and nephews.
A committal service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 18, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lillian’s memory can be made to: Georgetown Public Library, 123 W. Pine St., Georgetown, DE 19947.
