Local favorite Doris Ingram featured at Peninsula Gallery
The Peninsula Gallery team is excited to promote Lewes local Doris Ingram as the gallery’s featured artist for April.
A longtime Lewes resident, Ingram’s painting career covers almost 50 years, and she has been a Delaware Watercolor Society member since 2005. She enjoys painting en plein air because of her love of the outdoors and nature. Although her early career was spent as a high school home economics and general science teacher, art has always been part of her life. She instructs weekly art classes at her Lewes and Vermont studios. “I learn along with my students. It’s a good way to discover new techniques,” she said. Ingram is an active advocate for the arts, and access to art education is important to her.
Ingram has chosen to highlight nine watercolor works this month. Sticking to her iconic style, these works feature Lewes scenes such as local homes, marsh landscapes and workboats, as well as some examples from Vermont. Ingram will be giving all the proceeds from her piece “For the Children” to a Ukrainian children’s fund which helps displaced youngsters caught in the crossfire of war.
This special collection of Ingram’s work will be on display through Saturday, April 30. Works can be previewed at peninsula-gallery.com.
Featured Artist of the Month is a recurring event produced by Peninsula Gallery to highlight works created by different artists. The lineup of participants includes some of the gallery’s resident artists, repeat exhibitors and artists entirely new to the space.
