Louis Eric Griffith, retired educator
Louis Eric Griffith, 65, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away suddenly Monday, May 9, 2016, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.
He was born May 3, 1951, in Washington, D.C,. son of the late Louis R. Griffith and survived by his mother Mary Griffith and sister Stephanie Glasgow and fiancé Nicholas Kong.
Eric is also survived by his wife of 39 years, Sheila (Anderson) Griffith; his son, Justin Eric; and daughter, Jennifer (Griffith) Taylor and her husband Thor Taylor. He was the proud grandfather of Nathan, Kyle, Hailey Griffith and Emma Taylor. He is also survived by an extended family throughout the East Coast.
Eric graduated from Maryland University and went on to achieve his master’s in education from Bowie State College. He was a lifelong educator, starting his career in Prince Georges County, Md., and continued to educate past his retirement at Cape Henlopen High School. Eric loved to teach, travel, and RV with friends and neighbors, but his proudest achievement was his grandchildren.
A Celebration of his Life will be held Saturday, May 14, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m.
Friends may also call Friday, May 13, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow services Saturday at Slaughter Neck United Methodist Cemetery in Milford.
