Margaret Elizabeth Ryan, 93, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Friday, March 18, 2016, at her home. She was born Jan. 28, 1923, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

Mrs. Ryan married Joseph Ryan Aug. 14, 1954, in Philadelphia, Pa. Together they began a retail business in Philadelphia, Wilmington and several seaside locations before establishing Ryan's Gems and Junk in Ocean City, Md. and Rehoboth Beach. After her husband's death in 1992, Mrs. Ryan joined a circle of friends who met regularly for happy hour, and was again surrounded by people who cared for her and made her laugh.

She spent her winters in Florida, the last 25 years of which were in Crystal River.

Mrs. Ryan is survived by her two sons: Richard Ryan (Mei-En), of Toronto, Canada, and Joseph Ryan (Shirley) of Lewes; and grandsons.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 11, at 11 a.m., at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Ryan's memory to Tunnell Cancer Center, c/o Beebe Medical Foundation, 424 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
