Marie Spann Richards, U.S. Air Force retiree
Mrs. Marie Spann Richards, 68, a resident of the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016.
Marie was born June 29, 1947, in Georgiana, Ala. to the late Cecil Spann and Ida Richardson Spann.
She was a U.S. Air Force veteran stationed in Guam where she was a C-5A crew chief. In addition she was a homemaker, and also worked in retail sales and food service.
Marie was a wonderful wife, mother and dear friend. One of her greatest accomplishments in life was giving birth to two beautiful sons, Keith and Noah. She enjoyed country line dancing, traveling, making floral arrangements and shopping. She was known for her loving and giving heart, and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Carl Lee Richards of Millsboro; two sons, Keith Spann Schneider of Texas and Noah Patrick Schneider of Dover; four stepchildren, Tammy LaPlume of Marlton, N.J., Christina L. Willis of Greenwood, Michael P. Richards of Georgetown and Leetta J. Richards of Magnolia; along with two sisters, Ruby and Patsy; as well as a brother, Bobby; and two nieces, Kathy Woodsmall and Julie Hallford. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and her very best friend Monta Hoyer.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 19, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Burial will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Delaware Veterans Blvd, Milford DE 19963.
