The Mariner Middle School student council hosted its inaugural 3-v-3 coed basketball tournament Feb. 22.
Student-athletes in grades 6-8 participated in the tournament, with a total of 11 teams competing. The stands were filled with families, friends and fellow students supporting and encouraging their peers throughout the tournament.
The teams played a single-elimination tournament that led to a championship game between team Red Storm and team Bholcate Bhip Bookies. It was a close matchup, but Bholcate Bhip Bookies took the championship with a final score of 16-10.
The funds raised through this event will help student council host school activities such as dances, and purchase class gifts.
