Mary Ann Toomey, beauty from within
Mary Ann “Penny” Toomey, 73, was called back home to the loving arms of our heavenly father Thursday, March 24, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. Penny resided in Dewey Beach with the love of her life, her husband Wayne. Dewey Beach is where they met over 50 years ago and retired to in 2010.
She will be remembered for her wonderful smile, infectious laugh and true beauty from within. She was a loving wife, mother, mom-mom and friend.
Born June 5, 1942, in Harrisburg, Pa., she was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Charles Allen and Rose Rita Allen; and her brother, Michael Sullivan.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Wayne Anthony Toomey; four children, Bernadine Rita Toomey-Lopez (Mike), Toni Marie Toomey-Weymouth (Mac), Wayne Anthony Kip Toomey (Ken), and Michele Helen Toomey-Auelua (Sai); siblings Marguerite Toomey, Bernardine “Bunny” Futty, John Bernard Sullivan (Carol), Francis S. Sullivan (Luci) and Edwarda Ashby (Rob); seven grandchildren, Chris, Jennifer, Michelle, Sai, Kalei, Sophie and Misha; and two great-grandchildren, Little Felix and Logan.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, April 2, at the Chapel on the Big Bend Estate 86 Rocky Hill Road, Chadds Ford, Pa., with Ashley Jansen officiating.
