Mary Catherine “Kitty” Williams, taught at Lord Baltimore
Mary Catherine “Kitty” Williams, 94, of Lewes, passed away Oct. 4, 2016. Kitty was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Kitty was born in Ocean View July 28, 1922, to Paul and Leona (Hudson) Allen. She graduated from Milligan College, majoring in English, and taught school at Lord Baltimore School.
She enjoyed the beach, golfing, reading, sewing, square dancing and spending time with her family. Kitty and her husband Bill were blessed with 60 wonderful years of marriage. One of her greatest joys was creating an atmosphere of love and hospitality for her family and friends.
Kitty was an active member of Lewes Presbyterian Church. She was a founder of Mothers Are Always Mothers at the church and enjoyed many Bible studies and fellowship groups. She was also very active in area community programs, touching many lives in the Lewes area.
She is survived by her son Jeff Williams and wife Nancy from Lewes and daughter Susan Byrd and husband Larry from South Carolina. Special blessings in her life include her five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Kitty was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Williams, and by her brother, David Allen.
A service celebrating Kitty's life will be held at Lewes Presbyterian Church Thursday, Oct. 13, at 1 p.m. A reception at the church will follow immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Kitty's memory be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
