Mary Elizabeth Bailey, Milford Hospital retiree
Mary Elizabeth Bailey, "Mary Lizzie,” 83, of Harbeson, daughter of the late Ernest Sturgis and Sarah Frances Reed, was born Dec. 3, 1937, in Exmore, Va. She departed this life Saturday May 22, 2021, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. Mary was employed at Milford Memorial Hospital for 17 years. She was a loving and kind person and was always willing to help others.
She was a member of St. John 2nd Baptist Church for over 50 years. She also sang on the Senior Choir and served on the kitchen committee.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Alfred Bailey, prior to his death: six sisters: Helen Jackson, Dorothy Satchell, Rachel West, Susie Rogers, Christine Maddox, Ella Lewis; two brothers; John Pinkey and Elton Satchell .
She leaves to cherish fond memories, two children: Shanette Felton (James) and Alvin Bailey of Harbeson; two grandsons: Dwayne Bailey of Laurel and Jameir Bailey of Harbeson; one granddaughter: Jamiyah Felton of Harbeson; seven sisters: Cleo Redden (Therman), Arinthia Peacock, Anna Reed (Frankie), Bessie Reed (Daniel), Janice Dixon, Naomi Morrison all of Millsboro, and Dorothy Crawford of Milford; five brothers; Alfred Reed (Genese), Leroy Reed (Barbara), Jimmy Dixon (Ernestine), James Satchell, Rudy Drummond (Bethina), all of Millsboro; two loving sisters-in-law; Joann Harris of Millsboro, and Luvennia Satchell of Milford;, one aunt, Arinthia Fosque of Millsboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The time has come; the pain is over; we will miss you very much. We know you are in a better place, resting in the arms of Jesus.
Celebration of life service will be held at St John 2nd Baptist Church, 26602 Mt Joy Road Millsboro, at noon, Saturday, May 29. Family and friends may visit two hours prior to service.
