Mary Grace Donahue, loved coastal living

May 11, 2022

Mary “Mary Mary” Grace Donahue, 79, of Rehoboth Beach passed away suddenly Saturday, April 30, 2022, at her home.  She was born Oct. 11, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late John Thomas and Mary Elizabeth (Piselli) Donahue.

Mary had many interests and hobbies.  She enjoyed her work as a sales associate at the Home Depot Garden Center, as it fed her love of gardening and cultivating new life through flowers and plants. In addition to her green thumb, Mary was also very talented at quilting, making many treasured keepsakes over the years.  She loved coastal living and everything it had to offer, especially relaxing on the beach, soaking up the sun, with her toes in the sand.  Above all, she cherished time spent with those she held most dear.  Mary was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.  Loved by many, she will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Shields; and her brother, Jack Donahue.  She is survived by her children: Darrin DiLauro (Kelly), Jacqueline Quigley (Steve), Aliza Coventry (Marty), Stephanie Faust (Michael) and Meghan Mitchell (BJ); her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her many nieces and nephews.

Whether you knew her as Mary, Mary Mary, Mommom, or Mom, find comfort in knowing she cherished every minute of her life, and feel blessed to have known her. To respect her final wishes, the family asks for those who have cared for Mary to remember her by doing something she loved most: put your toes in the sand, breathe in the salt air and take a walk on the beach.

Interment will be private.

Final care has been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Children’s Beach House, 1800 Bay Ave., Lewes, DE  19958.
