May Powell, active church member

May Louise Powell, 96, of Rehoboth Beach passed away Friday, March 23, 2018, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. She was born Monday, May 30, 1921, in Washington, D.C., daughter of the late Edward W. and May Louise (Hodges) Carhart.

Mrs. Powell was a former member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Onley, Md. After moving to Delaware, she joined the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Rehoboth Beach where she was an active member. She was a humble, kind servant to all. She enjoyed playing bridge and quiltmaking in her spare time. Mrs. Powell loved being with her children and grandchildren at the beach during the summer. She loved her family dearly and will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Powell, and her second husband, Frank Buscher. She is survived by her two sons: Bruce Powell and his wife Rachel of Rehoboth Beach, and Ronald Powell and his wife Terry of Mississippi; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 20276 Bay Vista Road, Rehoboth Beach, where friends may visit with the family beginning at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Powell's name to the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 20276 Bay Vista Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
