I am writing to express my concern about the blatant disregard for state law regarding the removal of political campaign signs by Gov.-elect Matt Meyer. According to Delaware law, all political signs must be removed within 30 days following an election. Yet, here we are in mid-December and we’re still seeing campaign signs for Meyer littering the roadsides across Sussex County.
What is particularly frustrating is that Meyer is one of, if not the only candidate still leaving signs up in blatant defiance of the law. His continued disregard for this regulation sends a troubling message about accountability and respect for the rules that apply to all candidates, regardless of their political position or standing.
These signs are not only unsightly, but they also represent a failure to uphold basic legal responsibilities that the rest of us must adhere to. As a public official, Meyer should be setting an example for others to follow, not allowing his campaign to flout the law and ignore the community's wishes for a cleaner, more orderly environment.
I urge Meyer and his team to take immediate action and remove his signs in compliance with Delaware's laws. It's time for him to demonstrate the same respect for the rules that he asks of others.
