Michael J. Medora Sr., avid outdoorsman

Michael John Medora Sr., 64, of Lewes, formerly of Lancaster, Pa., passed away Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at Beebe Healthcare, Lewes. He was born Sept. 26, 1950, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late Albert J. Sr. and Claire Ann (Stocker) Medora.

Mr. Medora was a very active member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Lewes, where he participated in the Men's Chorus. He was also a member of the Grange Men's Choir.

Mr. Medora was a man who loved spending time outdoors. Some of his favorite hobbies were fishing in the Delaware waters, hunting or enjoying the day at the beach. He was known as a "beach bum" by his family and many of his friends. Mr. Medora also enjoyed participating in Civil War re-enactments and had a role in the movie "Gods and Generals."

Mr. Medora will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and a dear friend to all who knew him.

Mr. Medora is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Sharon A. Medora; two sons, Michael Medora Jr. of Lancaster, and Sean Medora of Missouri; a daughter, Diane Medora of Texas; two stepsons, Adam Nobles of Lewes, and James Richards of Millerstown, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Nobles of Lewes; numerous grandchildren; a brother, Bobby Medora of Lancaster; and two sisters: Peggy Stout of Tennessee, and Annie Medora of Lancaster.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958 to assist in defraying funeral expenses.
