More than 1,000 guitar enthusiasts attended the inaugural Mid Atlantic Guitar Show & Swap Meet at Rehoboth Beach Convention Hall March 22-23.
The Frantic Music Project Inc. of Milton presented this two-day event, drawing guitar enthusiasts and collectors from surrounding areas including Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C. The event kicked off with a show preview and cocktail reception March 22, which included light fare by Harbour at Canal Square and libations by Beach Time Distilling, Dewey Beer Company and Paul Cullen Wines.
March 23 brought out guitar enthusiasts to purchase, swap and consign their instruments. A lecture was presented by Jim Wysocki, a friend of guitar maker Les Paul, who chronicled the life and creative genius of the guitar great.
“The proceeds from the event benefit the Frantic Music Project,” said Mary Frantic. “We are a nonprofit organization that helps support local musicians in the state of Delaware that are facing catastrophic illnesses or catastrophic events. We also offer specific fundraising events for those musicians, and offer programs such as open mics and different performance opportunities. If musicians are struggling, we also offer subsidized services.”
