The Milford girls’ basketball team scored its first win of the season with a 49-22 victory over Sussex Academy Feb. 21.
The Bucs jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back, not allowing their opponents a point until the second quarter. They finished the first half with a 26-8 lead. The second half had the Bucs outscoring the visiting squad 23-14 for the 49-22 win.
Tatiyanna Davis led the Bucs with 12 points. A’Zaiyah Fullman scored 10, while Arianna Hughes-Dupree added eight.
Senior Alyssa Oscar led the Seahawks with 10 points. Emiley Bisaha added nine.
“I thank God because without him none of this would have happened,” said Milford coach Jaron Dukes. “I am overjoyed for the girls. Words really can’t explain it, but they deserved it. They all are warriors and never quit mentally. They wanted to be the group to break the three-year curse of being defeated and change the culture.”
The Bucs had not won a game since Feb. 20, 2020.
