Mill Pond Garden will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 10, for a celebration of the peak of fall leaf color along with a fence art show and sale of original paintings of Delmarva scenes.
An $18 ticket will admit one car with up to six passengers included. Tickets may be purchased with cash only at check-in or via the website, millpondgarden.com.
Featuring artwork by Michael Zajic, the Beautiful Delmarva-themed show and sale includes scenes of the Cape Region and Delmarva Peninsula. His work is in the folk art style increasingly seeing boosts in demand and value.
The garden will be at the peak of its fall color with dazzling foliage; colorful camellia blossoms, roses, angel trumpets and salvia; and an abundance of plants covered in colorful red and orange berries, including evergreen and deciduous hollies. The garden should also be producing shiitake mushrooms, interesting to see and learn how to grow.
A Certified Wildlife Habitat as recognized by the National Wildlife Federation, Mill Pond Garden hosts abundant numbers and variety of native birds and many other animals. With frontage on Red Mill Pond, it has 2,000 feet of pathways through designed garden rooms with many water features and offers a variety of design ideas as well as plant possibilities for local gardeners. The woody plants are labeled with scientific names. A horticulturist is on duty to answer questions.
The garden is wheelchair accessible with a pusher, and guests are welcome to take photographs.
A public, nonprofit entity, Mill Pond Garden is located off Minos Conaway Road at 31401 Melloy Court, Lewes.
