Millsboro library honors founder

February 14, 2024

The Millsboro Public Library honored its founder and longtime President Virginia “Tommy” Frazier at a Feb. 3 reception.

The board of directors memorialized Frazier’s legacy by placing a plaque in her name in the library’s entrance.

Her son David Frazier unveiled the plaque honoring his mother, which recognized her service as the library’s founder in 1973 and as president of the board from 1975-2023.

New board President Tamara Monroe Toomey described Frazier as the driving force in the creation of the library and its recent addition. An avid reader, Frazier visited the library regularly. She advocated for public accessibility and appealing children’s programming.

Joining the ceremony were members of Frazier’s family, library board members, Darwin Hall, Lisa Wharton, Beverly Mitchell, library Director Mary Brittingham, and staff members.
