The Milton Little League 8-10 All-Stars’ dream of a state tournament banner fell short July 26, with an 11-5 loss to District 1 Camden-Wyoming at Dr. Tobin Field.

The Milton squad jumped out quickly, scoring three in the top of the first inning, one in the second and one in the fourth.

Mason Glover had two RBIs on a double in the fourth inning, knocking in Aaden Johnson and Dominic Mangini. Johnson and Ryan Coubourne also added RBIs. Trey Dickinson and Harper Kaser both also slammed a hit.

Mangini went 3.1 innings on the mound, giving up six hits and five runs, striking out two. Johnson went one inning, giving up two runs while striking out two. Liam Mitchell threw two-thirds of an inning, giving up two hits and three runs.

Milton tied the game at five in the top of the fourth, but the District 1 bats, walks and errors propelled them to six runs in the final two innings to garner the win.

“Tough game, but we just came up short,” said Milton catcher Aaden Johnson. “I think those boys up north know where Milton is now. I’m proud that we won District 3. It was a lot of fun and I can't wait to get to play with these guys again next year.”

“It was a great run,” said Milton coach Ukie Johnson. “We are so proud of these fine young men. It was great for Milton to host the district and state tournament, and we received unbelievable support and love from the community. We cannot thank them enough. I also can’t say enough about the parents and their support. Their boys played hard; they just came up short. The boys never gave up. Fought to the last out. We had a saying, ‘We, not me.’ And they played and lived by that. They also would say, ‘13 brothers strong.’ I now have 14 sons. It was an awesome experience that I got the pleasure to coach with Tony and UJ. This team will have a special place in my heart.”

The Milton Little League 8-10 All-Stars fell to the District 2 Canal team 11-1 in four innings July 25 at Dr. Tobin Field in Milton.

Canal outhit Milton 9-3 in the contest, producing seven runs in the first inning and adding four in the second.

Milton’s lone run came in the second inning. After a double by Dominic Mangini, Liam Mitchell knocked him in on an RBI single.
