Milton library upgrades with video conferencing unit, 3-D printer

September 8, 2014

The Milton Public Library has been chosen to add video conferencing capabilities to its other technological resources through the Delaware Division of Libraries.

Video conferencing enables one to reach a much wider audience at one time. The library’s unit is an all-in-one model designed to be portable within the building, and can be set up anywhere, in any room that has power and network connectivity.

Offered via video conferencing by the Inspiration Space through the Delaware Division of Libraries are the following free workshops: Understanding Credit, Advertising Your Small Business, Facebook Basics, Computer Basics, Email Basics, Internet Basics, MSWord Basics, MS Excel Basics, MS Publisher Basics, and Intermediate Word. Go to www.milton.lib.de.us or call 302-684-8856 for schedules. Signup is required.

In addition, the video conferencing unit is available to be used at the library by nonprofits and government agencies.

3-D printing

The Milton Public Library has also made use of a 3-D printer through the DDL. 3-D printing can be beneficial to patrons as well as library staff; broken toys, hinges and other objects can be replaced with new ones. Library staff welcomes the community to come in and check out its capabilities.

For more information about 3-D printing or to reserve the video conferencing unit, call the library, 302-684-8856.
