Milton Mayor Ted Kanakos and Town Clerk Kristy Rogers, who was recently promoted as Milton’s new town manager, were recognized Jan. 23 with a Patriot Award for supporting Milton Police Department Chief Robert Longo’s duty to the Delaware Army National Guard Reserve.

Richard Ruben, a representative with the Department of Defense’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve program, presented Kanakos and Rogers each with a plaque for their accommodation of Longo’s duties, which may at times take him away from his full-time job with the town.

They rejected an ordinance that would prohibit parking on either side of Clifton Street from Union to Mulberry streets; approved the appointment of Lynn Ekelund to the town Planning and Zoning Commission; approved Councilman Charlie Fleetwood’s request to form a committee to honor a citizen of the year; approved a $100 donation to the Milton Lions Club; and approved a 70 percent bond reduction for Heritage Creek Phase 4B construction, allowing developers to reduce their performance bond from about $491,000 to about $147,000.
