Milton seeks grant for Rails to Trails amenities

By a unanimous vote, Milton Town Council passed a resolution allowing Town Manager Kristy Rogers to move forward with pursuing a grant that would pay for new exercise equipment and benches along the Rails to Trails between Federal and Lavinia streets.

Under the town’s proposal, the project calls for three exercise stations and five new aluminum benches, which would replace the current wooden benches. 

The grant would be through Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s outdoor, parks and recreation program. The total project is estimated at $18,000 and would be funded 50/50, with half from the state and a match from the town. 

Town officials are seeking exercise equipment to have a similar amenity on the second section of the Rails to Trails, as on the first section, which runs between Chestnut and Federal streets and has its own exercise equipment.
