Milton Theatre to reopen Jan. 22

Milton Theatre will reopen its doors Friday, Jan. 22, a little more than a month after closing for the second time since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Spokesman J.P. Lacap said the theater will be allowed to reopen at 30 percent capacity, or about 100 people per show. Face coverings will be required, and seating will be arranged to maintain social distancing. 

The first event will be a stand-up comedy show headlined by Jake Mattera and featuring sets by Sam Kap, Aaron Bell, Eddie Gallagher, and Tyler Dark, hosted by Keith Purnell. Saturday, Jan. 23, will feature a show by Boat House Row, and Sunday, Jan. 24, will feature Grace Field performing the songs of Judy Garland.

The theater first shut down at the beginning of the pandemic in March, when Gov. John Carney ordered all nonessential businesses to close. The theater reopened in the summer with events both inside and outside at the Quayside Stage. The theater closed again Dec. 11 after management determined that capacity limits made keeping it open economically unworkable.
