Milton woman charged after crashing car at Paynter’s Mill
A Milton woman faces driving under the influence and other charges after police say she crashed her vehicle Feb. 28 into the tennis courts at Paynter’s Mill.
The crash happened about 6:45 p.m. when the woman, 36, drove her 2011 Honda Pilot off a Paynter’s Mill road and through the tennis courts, causing damage to the facility, said Sr. Cpl. Leonard DeMalto of the Delaware State Police.
When police arrived, DeMalto said, emergency responders were tending to the woman and her three children, ages 8, 6, and 4, although none of them were injured.
The woman was charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, driving under the influence, driving while suspended/revoked and malicious mischief by a motor vehicle. She was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $1,500 secured bond.
Her name is being withheld because the charges are misdemeanors.
