More Than the Average Bear art reception set Sept. 25
CAMP Rehoboth is showcasing works in an exhibition called More Than the Average Bear, with a free reception open to the public from 10 a.m. to noon, Sunday, Sept. 25, at 37 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach.
These are not the four-legged variety of bears, but a group of men in the gay community who call themselves "Bears.” A team of community members curated this exhibit of bear-friendly art, which will be held in conjunction with the annual Rehoboth Beach Bears Weekend.
CAMP Rehoboth uses art to illuminate the talent of the community and explore pertinent themes that enlighten, educate and build community. This exhibition celebrates the bears with works by local and regional artists, including: JS Adams, Anthony Chiffolo, Joe Dietl, Max Fleishman, Robert Fleming, Dr Kaz Huston, Thomas Scott Roberts, Craig R. Simmons, Richard Thibodeau, Don Twine and Tom Waugh.
“CAMP Rehoboth is thrilled to once again host this annual art show,” said Arts Program lead Leslie Sinclair. “The talent and variety in this year’s show is particularly amazing, with watercolors, works on wood, stained glass, painting on glass and hand-drawn works.”
