Nancy Alice Cavanagh, healthcare provider

Nancy Alice Cavanagh, 87, of Mount Airy, Md., became an angel Monday, May 17, 2021.

She was born Aug. 24, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pa., and was a daughter of the late John Joseph and Rachel Praul Doak Cavanagh.  She was raised in Lewes Beach, and lived in Kent County, Md., and Kent County, Del..

Nancy was a home healthcare provider, and she cared for many prominent clients in Delaware, including James Brady, White House Press Secretary for President Ronald Reagan.

Nancy is survived by five children, Patricia Lusby and husband Herbie of Still Pond, Md., Jane Will and husband Larry of Mount Airy, Margaret Bailar and husband John of Chestertown, Md., David W. Smith Jr., of Chestertown, and Mark A. Smith and wife Kelly of Worton, Md; nine grandchildren, Lisa Lusby, Jenna Stoltzfus, David Sproates Jr., Chris Sproates, Jennifer Heavlow, Victor Heavlow, Eric Smith, Andrew Smith, and McKenzie Smith; and nine great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by siblings John Cavanagh of North East Md.,, Tom Cavanagh of Mount Juliet, Tenn., Don Cavanagh of Easton, Pa., Joseph Cavanagh of Woodbury, N.J., and Mary Baer of McMinnville, Tenn.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Radke.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 21 at 11 a.m., at Chester Cemetery in Chestertown.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
