New Castle man dies in Ellendale-area crash
A New Castle man died Dec. 18, following a single-vehicle crash near Ellendale.
The crash happened at 9:55 a.m. when a Honda Accord, driven by a 37-year-old Ellendale woman, was traveling northbound on DuPont Boulevard north of East Robbins Road when for reasons under investigation, police said, the Honda left the east side of the road, traveled a short distance, and struck a tree.
The woman was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. An unrestrained front-seat passenger, William Malachi, 38, of New Castle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
DuPont Boulevard was closed for about three hours while the crash was investigated the and cleared.
