Newly engaged couple sparks joy in Milton library gift shop
Love was in the air along the Broadkill River in Milton Feb. 8 when Jackson Lawrence proposed to his girlfriend Hannah Reed, a Sussex County native from Frankford. Originally from North Carolina, Lawrence had it all planned, with music playing while they danced on the bridge behind the library.
After Hannah said yes, the two came into the Friends of Milton Public Library Gift Shop to buy a memento of their special moment. The volunteers in the gift shop didn’t know what had taken place, but sensing the young couple’s exuberance, they knew something was up. Selecting a Milton magnet, Hannah turned around to the volunteers, held up her hand and said, “We just got engaged!”
Volunteer Jim Jefferson, a Milton native, thought they deserved a special remembrance gift and purchased a Milton sign for them. Another volunteer, Miriam Rosenberg, purchased the magnet. The couple, who met at church in Georgetown where they currently reside, said they were very grateful for the gifts and best wishes.
